My expectations are high with my dogs. I do not feel that they should be carried, ran inside if the temp is over or under a certain degree, or be treated as they are made of glass. These are working dogs and are treated as such in my house. If you are looking for a dog to sit around and need very little training this is not your site or your breed in my opinion. My dogs walk and jog heavily, pull weights, and sled pull my daughter. My males have been worked in Personal Protection training and so far has shown the right attributes to be great working guard dogs as well. I feel that showing is fun and great to make sure your dogs have the proper looks for the breed, but showing isn't everything! If the dog can't run faster then 3mph, then how is it going to catch an intruder? Or if the dog has too much skin on the face and it gets in the way of vision then how do you know the dog will not just run into a tree looking for the intruder? We as show people and breeders must be careful about our choices of purchases, and of our breeding stock. So that these over-done unhealthy dogs don't take over the breed and the good healthy stock vanishes! If one doesn't push the dog how do they know if its a healthy dog to breed?

These are WORKING dogs, work them!

I feel that a correct mastino should have SOME loose skin on the body and face. But breeding a dog to have extreme "type" has no purpose. More skin does nothing for the dog other then get in the way!

Yes the original purpose for the loose skin was for fighting, but extreme amounts can make the dog unhealthy!
