The molosser dog has been recorded all the way back to 3000 B.C. in painting and statues. Even Alexander the Great (356-323 B.C.) was instrumental in creating the forefather to the Neapolitan Mastiff, by crossing the giant macedonian, epirian war dog, and the short haired indian dog. This ancient dog was characterized with having a wide, short muzzle, heavy dewlap and being a large warrior dog. Back when fighting games were held in the Roman Colosseum these dogs were used to fight lions, tigers, even humans!

Although the Neo' has changed in appearance over the years, the heart of the beast still thrives today!

Over the centuries Mastini's were bred to deter intruders from estates like an armed gaurd, but would make anyone nervous on just looks alone! The dark colored coat is to blend into the night so not to be seen while gaurding the property. A single bite from a Neapolitan Mastiff could crush a man's wrist, so intruders be forewarned!

The earliest documentation of Neo's reaching U.S.A. was around the 70's, ad's started to appear in New York papers for "italian Bulldogs." Club's started to be made around the states as well as breeding. At first quality mastini in America was truly hard to come by, but as years have come and gone we have made our mark on this Italian Breed here!
